Life Lost in Rollover Accident Near Abilene

According to San Angelo Live, a rollover accident Tuesday morning claimed the life of 56-year-old Tamara Monique Dillard. She was pronounced dead at the scene near the intersection of Iberis Road around 8:15 in the morning. Although officials are not sure what caused the accident, the report states that Miss Dillard’s pickup truck somehow drifted off the road, hit the ditch, struck a culvert, and then rolled over. Reports have not indicated whether she was wearing her seatbelt or not. However, they did say she was partially ejected from the vehicle during the rollover.

The police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident. 

At this point, it is just pure speculation as to what could’ve happened to cause this accident. Not saying that this was the case in this particular accident, but many accidents like this occur when drivers are on their cell phones while behind the wheel. Cell phone usage while driving has caused many accidents. All it takes is a few seconds to take your eyes off the road and you can lose control of your vehicle and hit someone or hit something. These types of accidents often and very tragically. Talking and texting while driving is hazardous which is why the Texas Department of Public Safety advises against it. The issue is that we may think that we are fast at texting or looking down just for a split second but that’s all it takes to lose control of your vehicle.

Texting and driving is not just a growing problem with teenagers and young adults; it is a problem with all age groups. Talking and texting are not the only issues with the cell phone. Taking selfies and snap chatting as well as accessing social media networks are all things that drivers do as well.
