According to a report by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Terry Joe Mathis of Rule, TX, who was not wearing a seat belt when this occurred, was pronounced dead at the scene of the truck accident. Truck Accidents and Vehicle Malfunctions

While wearing a seatbelt might have helped to save the man’s life, unexpected things like the axle malfunction don’t contribute to operating a big rig safely. No information was given on the make and model of the truck, but it’s possible that the axle is part of a more significant problem in those types of vehicles. Sometimes, engineering failures and mechanical mistakes slip through the production process and cost consumers life and health. Dangerous products that malfunction in a harmful way that’s not tied to their intended use may be grounds for a lawsuit. Producers and manufacturers, as well as distributors, may be held liable for a dangerous product. Typically, a company will issue a recall to help keep the problem hurting anymore people, but this is not always how it transpires. What this article shows is that a one-vehicle wreck may not always be the fault of the driver.
